Nutrition Associate

Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a regular, full time Nutrition Associate position that is based at the Administrative Office in Ullin, Illinois. This position does come with a benefit package, including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan.   This position works under the Health & Nutrition Specialist and will assist him or her in monitoring of the nutrition service area.

Qualifications:  The applicant must have at a minimum High School Diploma/GED and a current Food Services Manager Certification and at least two years of cooking in an early childhood or public school setting. Prefer an Associate Degree in a nutrition field with experience in an early childhood setting or public school.

Job Duties:

• Assists with monitoring of the nutrition services in the Head Start/Early Head Start programs.
• Assists in meeting all of the requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
• Assures that monthly CACFP documentation is complete.
• Completes three mealtime monitoring reviews at each site.
• Reviews and submits all food orders to ensure that they are in line with the budget and are accurate and are submitted in a timely manner.
• Provides training to newly hired cooks and ongoing training to all cooks.
• Facilitates meetings and workshops with cooks during training days.
• Participates in reviews as appropriate (CACFP, Head Start, Self-Assessment, etc.).
• Coordinates requisitioning of supplies needed for the kitchen.
• Assists with menu planning in coordination with the Health & Nutrition Specialist and Dietician.
• Ensures that each child enrolled receives heights and weights according to the procedure.
• Assists in the health service area and completes data entry as assigned.

• Performs other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the agency.
