Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a regular, full time Head Start Early Childhood Director based at the Administrative Office in Ullin, Illinois. This position works under the guidance of the Early Childhood Administrator and assures that all Head Start program mandates, Performance Standards, and all applicable laws and regulations are being met. This position supervises all of the Head Start Site Supervisors and the Associate Site Supervisors and is also responsible for leading the Head Start Community Assessment Team.  

Qualifications:  The applicant must have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or an approved related degree AND two (2) years of supervisory experience and two (2) years of experience in a Head Start setting.

Job Duties:

  • Provides guidance and leadership to staff to ensure the program meets Head Start Performance Standards, school readiness goals, quality outcomes, and all other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provides supervision to direct reports and meets with them on a regular schedule to share information, provide feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Plans and conducts monthly Site Supervisor Meetings and participates in monthly Management Team and Service Team Meetings.
  • Assists the Early Childhood Administrator with the annual program self- assessment and program reviews.
  • Facilitates a Community Assessment Team and assures completion as required by the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Takes an active role with community partnerships and school districts to foster collaboration.
  • Assists Site Supervisors with interviewing potential candidates for vacant positions.
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program.

The applicant selected for this will be required to undergo a DCFS Background/Criminal Check as required by Head Start and Illinois Department of Children & Family Services.
