Associate Site Supervisor (School Based Setting)

This position is a full time (10 months/year) position and is based at the Dongola Head Start in Dongola, Illinois.  It does come with a benefit package (including vacation, personal and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan).  This position is responsible for providing a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate early childhood program for preschool aged children and developing a partnership with the children's parents or caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in the program. This position also serves as a supervisor for day to day operations at the site including supervision of the staff assigned to the center.

Qualifications:  At a minimum the applicant must have an Associate Degree in Early Childhood or a related with 21 hours in Early Childhood and 3 hours in administration, management, or leadership - Prefer Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood and experience in an early childhood setting.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates and schedules staff to ensure classroom ratios, supervision, and coverage.
  • Supervises staff assigned to the site on a daily basis but keeps Early Childhood Director informed on issues.
  • Assists with interviews, selection, and orientation of new employee for the site as well as evaluation of staff in coordination with the Early Childhood Director.
  • Reviews and approves all time sheets for staff assigned to the site.
  • Works with the Parent Coordinator to assist with Parent Group meetings and activities.
  • Develops weekly plans and implements age appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care.
  • Administers developmental screening tool within 45 days of child's enrollment.
  • Completes referrals as needed and participates in IEP/IFSP meetings as needed.
  • Maintains an online portfolio on each child's progress and development.
  • Works cooperatively with Teacher Aide and other staff and volunteers using team approach to classroom management.
  • Assures that all children are supervised at all times.
  • Participates in family style meals and snacks at the table with the children and completes daily meal and attendance records.
  • Completes family staff conferences and home visits as required.
  • Assists families with transitions from Head Start to Kindergarten.
  • Any other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program
