Associate Health Educator

Southern Seven Health Department is seeking applications for a regular, part-time Associate Health Educator position for the Colorectal Cancer screening program that is based at the Alexander County Public Health Clinic in Cairo, Illinois. This position does come with a benefit package, including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan.  This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing health and wellness education throughout the lower seven counties in Illinois. This position serves as a liaison between Southern Seven Health Department and various schools, communities, agencies, and businesses.

Qualifications:  The applicant must have at a minimum 31 college credit hours with 12 in Social Work, Education or related. The candidate must be able to communicate effectively, present information to small and large groups, passionate about health and wellness, and a self-starter.

Job Duties:

• Utilize Flu-FIT strategy to increase colorectal cancer screening rates.
• Establish linkages with hospitals for patients with abnormal test results to ensure timely receipt of a diagnostic colonoscopy.
• Work with Community Outreach Coordinator to strategize effective methods of reaching perspective program participants.

• Completes and submits required reports, data forms, and narratives in a timely manner.
• Completes surveys, assessments, and assists in evaluating effectiveness of programs.

• Develops and presents educational material and presentations to agencies, churches, and other community groups as assigned by his/her supervisor.

• Participates and represents agency in coordination with Community Outreach Coordinator in Project ECHO sessions

• Plans and coordinates community events according to specific program guidelines.

• Follows all policies and procedures related to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the agency.
